Botanics Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish, £7.99 now £3.99

I’ve been seeing more and more Botanics rave reviews, tweets & instagram posts recently so I figured it time I find out what all the fuss is about! After doing my research I found that Botanics is a fast growing, cruelty free, organic and natural range made by Boots. The award winning brand now manufacture skin care, hair care, bath & body and aromatherapy products but are most well known in the bloggersphere for their skin care. They use all natural ingredients sourced in the UK and are praised for their ethical approach to beauty.

Now it may seem a little early on for me to be thinking about skin ageing when I’m approaching 25 but I figure that avoiding signs of ageing early on can only do me good. I already miss the glow of my teenage years and I am not waiting until pregnancy to get a bright complexion again!

I’ve never really found a purpose made facial scrub that works for me and I’m glad my years of searching are finally over. I tend to find that scrubs designed for the face are far too gentle and don’t really exfoliate much at all however if you opt for a body scrub, the exfoliating beads are usually too large and have a scratching sensation when used on my face. This however is the coarse facial scrub we’ve all been waiting for, it’s just abrasive enough to take off a layer of skin but it’s not too harsh on a delicate face. That’s all down to it’s ‘gritty’ texture which you may be able to make out from the image below.

As you can see from the above photo, the product is quite creamy and loaded with tiny natural microbeads to rub away dead skin cells.

Removing dead skin encourages cell renewal which makes your skin look much brighter and tighter. It also improves skin texture which leaves a perfectly smooth base for makeup application. The formula is loaded with antioxidants, plant extracts and natural soothing ingredients.

I’ve found this is best used by applying a 20p sized amount and rubbing very gently in circular motions. If you scrub too hard your face will end up sore and red. Your skin with naturally feel sensitive after microdermabrasion so it’s best to leave it at least 30 minutes before applying any scented or coloured products. I suggest following the treatment with a hydrating toner like Liz Earle’s Instant Boost Skin Tonic or The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Face Mist (which I reviewed here)

I’ve been using weekly (as recommended on the packaging) for a fortnight now and I’m already seeing a boost in my complexion so thanks to the brighter weather and this great little polish, I’ll be glowing again in no time.

Have you tried any of the Botanics Skin Care Range? What’s your favourite facial scrub?
